WHO WE ARE
Tallafi UK is a constituted charity organisation based in North Wales, United Kingdom. Established in April 2019. Tallafi UK works along side a sister organization Tallafi Initiative Nigeria (TIN). TIN aims to build resilient and sustainable communities through the provision of basic education and empowering community groups.
The two organisations are founded by Dr. Salamatu J. Fada, and are supported by 4 Board of Trustees for Tallafi UK and five board of Trustees for TIN. Both organizations also have streeling committees working In Northern Nigeria and North Wales, UK.
TIN works in conjunction with Rural Communities’ Development Associations (RCDA) in Northern Nigeria. Tallafi UK sources and generates income from grants, fundraising activities and donations given to us by our members. The United Kingdom serves as our main place for sourcing funds from organizations like British Nigeria Education Trust, Waterloo, Wales4Africa etc. While TIN focuses on the operational part of the vision in Nigeria. TIN is committed to empowering communities through educational development, skill acquisition programmes, infrastructural development and capacity building, resulting in eradicating illiteracy and reducing poverty.
WHAT WE DO
Rural livelihoods in Northern Nigeria are under a combination of threats. These threats manifest in various dimensions and result in high illiteracy levels, poor health conditions, ethno-religious conflicts and more recently, terrorism.
Tallafi UK aims to build resilient and sustainable communities through the provision of basic education and empowering the people groups.
Tallafi UK provides the means by which the communities can access formal and informal education, for groups within the community to develop vocational skills and for all residents to be provided with, and have access to basic social amenities in these communities. Consequently, empowering the communities with sustainable interventions and improving the rural livelihoods in Northern Nigeria.
For operational purposes, Tallafi is designed to execute her projects under these headings:
- Physical infrastructural development: build and renovate schools, dig bore holes, build dispensaries
- Education: a) Child education b)Training and re-training of teachers c) Family literacy
- Vocational skill acquisition : a) Young women in early Marriage b)Youth c) others
In order to ensure the sustainability of these communities, Tallafi places more focuses on educating higher proportions of females than males due to their propensity to stay back remain? in the communities in the long-term and being able to plough back the garnered knowledge into their communities.OUR TEAM
